Half yearly anniversary of the lockdown

The world is dealing with the pandemic crisis and it has been six months since the lockdown was started in the country. The nationwide lockdown was issued on 25th March 2020 to prevent the spread of coronavirus. After a few months, the government started reducing the restrictions which were imposed during the lockdown. There are a lot of things that happened in this time span. If you are wondering what to do and waiting for a miracle to happen, read this How to become Atmanirbhar (Self-dependent)?

It is said, "All that happens, happens for good". If seeing the optimistic side of the coin the pandemic has also brought some positive changes around us.

Increased number of start-ups:

Amid the COVID times, there is a huge spike in the number of startups and many campaigns are launched to promote these small businesses. It is said "Necessity is the mother of invention", so when people found the situation going out of hand they have started their small business. This was the best time for such people to make their business plans and execute it with full passion. We should also support such initiatives to go "Vocal for local".

Work from home culture:

This culture was not dominant in our country but during the pandemic, the IT companies adopted the work from home culture. Though some people are unsatisfied with this change, many people especially women found it really comfortable to work from home and want this culture to prevail even in the future. This culture is advantageous for companies as well. Also, this culture brought some families back together which were apart due to social livelihood. According to reports, the work from home culture was a successful step.

Improved hygiene standards:

Undoubtedly the pandemic has raised the hygiene standards of every individual. People are more concerned to maintain proper cleanliness around them and sanitize the things before using them. Overall, this pandemic brought social awareness among people towards their health and hygiene. The use of sanitizers, wash hands before eating and such kind of practices has been increased a lot.

P.S. Try to wash hands with soap instead of using sanitizers (whenever possible).

Self-improvement:

Many people used the COVID times to learn new skills and work upon themselves to become a better version of their own self. You are never late to start something new and gain a new skill. Pandemic has led individuals to mend the gaps between personal relationships that come because they were more focussed on their career goals or busy life schedule. Self-analysis or me time helped many people to not just go through their lives but to grow in life. If you haven't started yet, do remember that this time will never come back. As I said, you are never late to start, it's the time for you to buckle up.

Adopt all the norms issued by the government to ensure your and others' safety. To make you aware of the other major impacts of the pandemic are listed below.

Health:

Since childhood, we are taught that "Health is wealth". A simple thought but to make you aware the Covid-19 virus affects your health in a threatening manner. Till now if considering the data provided to us is true 94,520 people have died because of the deadly virus. Those recovered from the virus are now facing post-COVID problems like heart problems, lung damage and the virus can also cause organ damage such as kidneys or gastrointestinal tracts. We lost so many frontline workers because they were selflessly doing their job to prevent us and nothing can make up for that loss.

Unemployment:

17 September, the birth date of our honorable Prime Minister was celebrated as the 'National unemployment day' by many twitter users.

To bring to your notice in April, when the lockdown just started 12.2 crore Indians lost their job. The worst affected people by the lockdown were the daily wage laborers or small traders, thus raising the flag of the quote, "In India, the richer get richer and the poor get poorer" high in the sky. The after-effects of the pandemic will stay in our lives till a period of time and maybe this is the right time for you to develop new skills or learn new things and analyze your skillset.

GDP Crisis:

Amid the lockdown, the economic growth of India slipped down by 23.9 in the April-June quarter (Q1) and more than 3 years will be required to bring the GDP back in the race. The impact of low GDP is reflected in our earnings. We may observe a temporary economic decline through which the trade and industrial activity are reduced i.e. recession. Unemployment, layoffs, decreasing revenues are the impact that low GDP does.

Access to healthcare:

During these hard times, fear has been instilled in both the doctor and the patient for their health. Access to hospitals, pathologies, and government hospitals is now restricted. People suffering from diabetes, hypertension, thyroid, heart disease, and many other diseases need a regular checkup but now all these are visits are virtual, and if the condition of the patient turns to be critical (wish it never happens) then to find a bed in the hospital and then the doctor is no less than a mammoth task. Because of the restrictions on healthcare access, many people have lost their life. We have seen pregnant women giving birth to their child on roads and all these situations exist around you. A single initiative of an individual can bring a change and that individual can be you

Leaving you with the quote, "Tough time never lasts but tough people do". This time too shall pass but make sure this time helps you to become a better version of yourself inside out.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and maintain social distancing.
